FRANKFURT The European economy is not poised to contract and the euro zone still faces risks of inflation, AFP quoted Bundesbank President Ernst Welteke as saying on Wednesday.

Europe is in "no way" on the verge of recession, Welteke said in an interview with *****Focus Money**** magazine.

There were no signs of a recession either globally or in the euro zone, despite the current slowdown in the United States, Welteke said.
